Intertek celebrated the 20th year anniversary of its operations in mainland China at a commemorative function in Shenzhen, today, attended by government officials, customers, industry VIPs, Intertek Group Chief Executive and members of the media.

Intertek commenced its first operations in China in 1989 with a consumer-goods testing joint-venture in Shenzhen and was the first international provider of quality and safety solutions to enter China. Since then, the company has expanded the range of services it offers and industries that it supports significantly and today has more than 6,000 employees in China and over 100 offices and laboratories in major cities and provincial centres including Shanghai, Guangzhou, Beijing, Tianjin, Hangzhou, Wuxi and Qingdao.

In attending the event, Intertek Group CEO Wolfhart Hauser said ‘Our Chinese clients have always valued our knowledge of international markets and their quality and safety requirements and our ability to apply this with local understanding in the Chinese market. We continue to focus on providing solutions here locally that can help Chinese companies better manage the challenges of increasing global regulations and buyer-requirements upon them. China’s manufacturing sector has developed strongly over the past two decades and so too has Chinese leadership in new product development and innovation.
