Intertek WISco’s professional services support ESKOM as they open new plants over the next five years

Intertek, a leading global provider of quality and safety solutions, has been awarded a five-year contract with ESKOM South Africa for the provision of inspection services that relate to the construction of planned coal and nuclear fuelled power stations. ESKOM is one of the world’s largest public utilities, providing approximately 60% of the electricity consumed on the African continent.

ESKOM currently has $17 billion USD in power generation projects planned over the next five years. Combined, these plants will have the capacity to generate more than 11,000 megawatts of electricity. ESKOM has selected Intertek WISco as one of the four international agencies to help ensure that these plants are reliable and have high availability to enable ESKOM to meet their future performance requirements. Intertek's involvement will include global supplier assessment and selection, expediting, and in-process and site inspections.

“Intertek is pleased to support ESKOM as they develop and strengthen their power generation network,” said Jan-Jörg Müller-Seiler, President of Global Industry Services at Intertek. “From traditional coal-fired power stations, to new sustainable-energy sources such as wind farms, ESKOM can count on Intertek’s expertise to ensure that their plants come online smoothly and run efficiently.”
