Intertek (LSE: ITRK), a global leader in testing, inspection and certification services, has announced the availability of a new white paper titled: What Can Performance Testing Do For Your Solid-State Lighting Products?

The continuing evolution of solid-state lighting has been driven by ever-present market factors such as improved energy efficiency, increased product life, reduction of maintenance costs, and reducing environmental impacts. While the evolution of energy-efficient lighting products is exciting, verifying that the performance characteristics of solid-state lighting will meet or exceed traditional lighting technologies is essential before widespread market adoption can occur.

This White Paper will discuss performance standards developed for testing solid state lighting products, including:

  • IES LM-79-08 Approved Method for Electrical & Photometric Measurements of Solid-State Lighting Products
  • IES LM-80-08 Approved Method for Measuring Lumen Maintenance of LED Light Sources

Other performance testing options will also be covered, including the two ENERGY STAR programs from the U.S. DOE and EPA; and environmental performance testing--exposing solid-state lighting to stresses that the product will operate under, such as temperature, humidity, dust, shock, etc.

Beyond mandatory testing, Performance Testing can help gain a competitive edge
