Industry briefings to provide companies with a ‘Green Checklist’ for compliance

Intertek (www.intertek.com/rohs), the leading provider of quality and safety solutions to a wide range of industries worldwide, is helping electronics manufacturers understand the environmental regulations they must meet in order to sell their product in the European Union.  The company will hold a free one-hour online webinar to the [US or Global industry] on Thursday, November 13th 2008 at 2:00 pm Eastern Standard Time to help electronics manufacturers keep abreast of the wide range of environmental legislations in the EU and the latest changes and updates to them.

Electronics sold into the EU are subject to responsibilities from many different environmental legislations including RoHS, WEEE, REACH, and the Batteries and Packaging directives. Typical requirements include: the declaration of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs) for the REACH regulation; proof of compliance with the materials restrictions of RoHS Directive, Packaging and Battery Directives; registration and the implementation of takeback and reporting programs for the WEEE Directive, Packaging Directive and Battery Directive; and end-of-life treatment instructions for the WEEE Directive. What companies do or do not have to do to sell electronics in the European Union depends on the product and method of sales.

The free one-hour webinar on November 13th is designed to help electronics manufacturers find out what should be on their company’s compliance checklist for products being sold into the EU.

Topics to be addressed:

  • REACH SVHC declaration requirements starting October 2008
