Intertek (www.intertek.com/reach), a leading provider of quality, testing and analysis solutions, offers chemical registration services to fulfil each of the requirements of REACH registration, including technical dossier preparation and management of Substance Information Exchange Forum (SIEF) participation. Under the REACH Regulation (Registration, Evaluation, and Authorization of Chemicals), it is expected that over 30,000 existing chemicals will require registration with the European Chemicals Association (ECHA.) Chemicals, substances, preparations and finished articles must be REACH-compliant in order to continue to be sold or manufactured in the EU. Chemicals manufactured in or imported into the EU in excess of one tonne per annum must be registered. Intertek offers comprehensive REACH solutions including services for pre-registration, registration, Only Representation for non-EU manufacturers, testing, supply chain auditing, and complete or partial REACH program outsourcing.

REACH pre-registration, the first stage of REACH compliance, must be completed between June 1 and December 1, 2008. Following pre-registration, chemicals will be prioritized for registration over the next 11 years during which time producers will be required to provide a technical dossier containing chemical property information, including physico-chemical and toxicological data, and other data related to their products’ impact on human health and the environment.

Intertek can provide element-specific support for any stage of REACH registration including: pre-registration, SIEF participation, communication with supply chain actors, exposure scenarios, risk assessments, technical dossier preparation, Chemical Safety Assessments (CSA), Chemical Safety Reports (CSR), REACH testing, and registration submission; or complete project management of all REACH requirements for either a chemical or a company.

“The REACH registration process will require companies to venture into new arenas including collaboration with government agencies and potential competitors in order to collect all of the data required by REACH in a cost-effective manner,” states Bruce Calder, General Manager of Intertek Ageus Solutions. “Intertek has extensive experience in chemical testing and analysis, data collection and management, dossier creation, and European legislation and reporting. Our REACH Registration Solution is structured to simplify REACH compliance and provide an executable strategy that does not impede on-going product innovation.”

For non-EU based companies, Intertek also offers a comprehensive array of “Only Representative” services. Intertek has a proven track record of project management, outsourcing, and registration in the EU and can provide a range of services from general regulatory support to complete project management of your company’s REACH program. The next recommended step is to discuss your program with Intertek’s REACH experts and determine how Intertek’s REACH registration solution can best meet your needs.
