Article 6 of the RoHS Directive requires that the directive be periodically reviewed and updated in consultation with stakeholders to address required updates to the scope of the directive including the equipment covered by the directive, the substances restricted by the directive, and the technical execution of the requirements of the directive. In compliance with Article 6 of the RoHS Directive, the second consultation for the review of the RoHS Directive concluded on February 13, 2008. The consultation was set specifically to address the inclusion of Category 8 & 9 (medical devices, and monitoring & control equipment), and amend the list of restricted substances based on the emergence of new scientific evidence having particular relevance to human health and the environment. The results of the consultation have been reviewed and based on statistical analysis and review of the submitted comments, plausible future actions can be discussed.
