Intertek Opens New Large-scale Toy Testing Laboratory in Southern China

Intertek, the leading provider of quality and safety solutions to a wide range of industries worldwide has opened a new large-scale toy testing laboratory in Guangzhou, Southern China jointly with IQTC1 - the public technical institution that provides a majority of obligatory testing for imported and exported products in Guangdong province in Southern China.
Guangdong province in Southern China is a major manufacturing hub for toys internationally. The new laboratory will offer an array of comprehensive services and solutions for toy manufacturers and distributors alike in the region. It will also issue testing reports with dual IQTC-Intertek logos that will further support manufacturers’ requirements to meet international regulations and their retail customers’’ own standards in 2008 and on. China’s General Administration of Quality supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China (AQSIQ) introduced stricter requirements and monitoring for China’s toy manufacturers and distributors to ensure that exported toys meet and, in some cases, even exceed multiple safety, quality, and health standards. Intertek and IQTC collaborated to establish this new large-scale toy testing laboratory to support and aid the toy industry in complying with new and increasing quality and safety standards both locally and globally.
The laboratory was opened on March 28, 2008 following a grand ceremony attended by IQTC officials, Intertek executives and key customers.

Zheng Jianguo, the deputy director of IQTC said “The new Intertek-IQTC laboratory will offer the industry value-adding services and greater efficiency through one-time testing to national and international regulatory standards. The joint testing report issued by the laboratory can be used both by manufacturers to meet both customers and regulatory standards, as well as serve as reference for local inspection and quarantine authorities to help the industry break through foreign technical barriers and reduce possible multiple testing and costs. “
