Intertek (www.intertek.com) is pleased to host a free online webinar on the “Registration, Evaluation and Authorizsation of Chemicals” (REACH) options for non-EU producers of regulated chemicals, substances, preparations and finished articles. REACH is a very broad and wide-ranging legislation requiring the registration of some 30,000 existing chemicals that are sold or manufactured in Europe.

According to a recent survey conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers, non-EU business leaders appear lax about taking steps to comply with REACH: only two-thirds of North American organizations interviewed claimed to have any knowledge of the operational impacts the European Union (EU) legislation could have on their ability to sell products and their future position in the European marketplace. Between June 1 and November 30, 2008, non-EU producers affected by the REACH directive will have to choose and implement one of four paths for REACH pre-registration — the first step in REACH compliance:

1. Pre-register their products through an importer
2. Pre-register their products through an ‘Only Representative’
3. Request that pre-registration be performed by upstream suppliers
4. Terminate sales of their products to the EU.

Join us on March 18th at 2:00 pm Eastern Time for a free 1-hour online webinar to review the pros and cons of each of the principal mechanisms allowing non-EU companies to participate in the REACH pre-registration and registration processes; discuss industry trends in the selection of REACH pre-registration solutions for non-EU companies; and provide an approach to achieving REACH compliance.
