ETL Sanitation Mark

Intertek issues both the ETL Listed and ETL Sanitation Marks, which demonstrate compliance to North American product safety standards and required sanitation standards, respectively.

By receiving both marks through one local source, you can realize significant time and cost savings.

Before selling your food service or spa equipment in United States and Canada, you must demonstrate compliance with applicable national sanitation requirements (NSF). As an ANSI-accredited certification body, we test your products to applicable ANSI/NSF standards. If tested compliant, we issue our proprietary ETL Sanitation Mark allowing your products to be sold in the United States and/or Canada. The ETL Sanitation Mark indicates that the manufacturer's production site conforms to a range of compliance measures and is subject to a periodic regimen of follow-up inspections to verify continued conformance.

An ETL Sanitation Mark on Food Service Equipment indicates that equipment is fit for use in the production of food intended for human consumption, or the equipment is fit for use in an environment where food intended for human consumption is produced.

Testing Standards for the ETL Sanitation Mark
Sanitation standards we test to for food service equipment include:

Concurrent Sanitation and Electrical/Gas Safety Testing
Intertek issues both the ETL Listed and ETL Sanitation Marks, which demonstrate compliance to North American product safety standards and required sanitation standards, respectively. By receiving both marks through one local source, manufacturers can realize significant time and cost savings. In addition, for both testing and certification regimen, only one sample is required.
