Toronto, ON, Canada - Intertek, a leading Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide has been invited to speak at ChemCon The Americas, which takes place in Toronto, ON, Canada from October 17- 21, 2016.

In 2016, ChemCon The Americas will have sessions that will focus on Canada’s Chemical Management Plan (CMP).  Canada’s CMP is a federal government initiative intended to proactively manage the potential risks posed by the use of certain chemicals to both human health and the environment in Canada.  Many reporting obligations and government assessments have been triggered by the CMP.  The Government of Canada has and will continue to gather information from industry to complete risk assessments of priority substances grandfathered to the Canadian domestic inventory, the Domestic Substances List.  Should a risk assessment indicate the potential for a substance to be “toxic” under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act of 1999 (CEPA 99), risk management tools will be developed for stakeholder implementation according to a well-defined schedule.

Intertek expert Joyce Borkhoff, Senior Director, Chemicals Group will be discussing the industry’s perspective and experience with Canada’s CMP during the October 17, 2016 workshop, which begins at 7:30 a.m.

Ms. Borkhoff has also been invited to speak on Data requirements and development of a global test program, including industry examples of implementing a global test program; re-using test data between different notification systems. As well, Intertek expert, Richard Bi, Senior Regulatory Manager Chemicals, has been asked to speak on Australia and New Zealand – Overview on chemical control legislation (labelling, MSDS, existing and new substances, etc.) and aspects of GHS.
