Standard: ANSI/NALFA LF-01 Section 3.6: Small Ball Impact Resistance

Certification Required: Required for the NALFA Certification Seal

Scope: Per ANSI/NALFA LF-01 Section 3.6: "This test measures the ability of laminate flooring to resist fracture due to impact by a small diameter ball."

Applicable Products: Laminate flooring

Test Procedure: The specimen is placed on underlayment foam of similar size. The impact dart is dropped at an initial height of 5 in. The dart is caught on the rebound to prevent multiple impacts. The dart is the moved to the right 5/8 in and the height is increased by 1 in. This process is repeated by moving the dart and increasing the drop height by 1 in until cracks or fractures are observed on the specimen. Testing is continued until three successive failures at the same height are observed.

End Result: This test results in the impact resistance of the laminate flooring.
