First, we’ll discuss key aspects, definitions, exemptions, submission obligations, and inventories in Canada’s New Substances Notification Regulations (Chemicals and Polymers) under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA), and navigate Canada’s Masked Name Regulation and strategies for substance identity protection. Further on, we’ll delve into federal compliance under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) in the U.S., uncover label regulation requirements, and understand additional state-level regulations, such as California’s Right to Know Act. 

Moving further south, we’ll outline recent developments in South America, including Mexico and examine the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS). This part of the session will unpack notification and registration obligations in countries like Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Chile, and Mexico, and provide insights into proposed regulatory timelines for full implementation across Latin America.

In Australia, we’ll discuss the regulations under the Australian Industrial Chemicals Introduction Scheme, which encompasses a broad spectrum of industrial chemicals, including detergents. We’ll discover how the government has streamlined the assessment process to alleviate regulatory burdens and ensure proportionate efforts in relation to risk. Attendees will gain insights into the mandatory registration process for businesses introducing detergents in Australia, the categorization requirements based on risk levels to human health and the environment, and the compliance requirements for each category.

Moving to the Middle East and India, we’ll explore the intricacies of detergent regulations covering both the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) and Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). We’ll outline the obligations, including the technical requirements and specific standards, imposed on suppliers, and unpack the nuances of packaging requirements, focusing on labelling criteria outlined in Annex No. (2). Transitioning to detergent specifications under the BIS, we’ll unravel the introduction, scope, and technical requirements for detergents in India. Finally, we’ll explore the prerequisites for obtaining the “Eco Mark,” and delve into the meticulous packing and marking requirements governing BIS Certification Marking.
