About The Role

The Fire Assayer, who will be located in Maddington WA, will work as part of a team to provide quality service to clients processing mineral samples using Fire Assay techniques and other sample preparation. 


The primary tasks and responsibilities of the roles include, but are not limited to:

  • Weigh samples based on mineralogy
  • Acid test work on all Fire Assay samples
  • Fuse and Cupel samples
  • Prepare Cupels
  • Handle, modify and apply various flux reagents
  • Lead and Prill collection
  • Identify and rectify poor fusions in routine situations
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment and plant
  • Other duties as required including but not limited to Sample preparation

The roster is a compressed, rotating, even time roster including both day and night shifts. 7 days on, 7 days off, day shift from 6am – 6pm, and night shift from 6pm – 6am. Applicants should be available and able to work both shifts.

Applicants must possess the following: 

  • Ability to perform rotating shift work and 12-hour shifts
  • Ability to travel to and from Maddington
  • The ability to work as part of a team,
  • Have good communication skills
  • Be able to work in a team, as well as individually as required
  • Be physically fit
  • Previous laboratory experience desirable
  • Driver’s licence would be beneficial
