ABOUT THE ROLE:

An opportunity has arisen for a Laboratory Technician within our ‘Chemistry Team’ in Stoke. As a Laboratory Technician you will assist the Food services team with the daily preparation and extraction of samples prior to analysis within the chemistry laboratory. You will undertake basic analytical testing after training and be responsible for adhering to the Company’s Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures whilst assisting with other associated tasks.

Key Activities:

 

  • Receiving, examining and recording samples through a login process.
  • Performing qualitative and quantitative chemical tests in a timely manner according to prescribed methods and procedures.
  • Verifying and communicating results obtained to assure the validity and traceability of the information.
  • Perform routine laboratory duties such as sample preparation, stock control and equipment cleaning.

 

This is an excellent entry level role and would suit someone interested in science and looking to start their career. The role will be a full time, permanent role based in Stoke on Trent (ST6), which is a multi-discipline site ensuring Food safety in the UK and offers good transportation links to all surrounding areas including the M6. The role holder will be required to work within the chemistry team from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday and be able to commit to weekday/weekend overtime as required.

ABOUT YOU:

 

  • You need to demonstrate good IT literacy skills
  • You need to be passionate about science and keen to learn and develop new skills.
  • Experience in a similar working environment within a UKAS accredited laboratory would be beneficial, but not essential.
  • You need to have a good general standard of education in Science, English and Maths.
  • You need to be comfortable with methodical processes and have an excellent ability to follow instructions and procedures.
  • No formal qualifications are required because we will provide comprehensive training that will allow you to meet the requirements of the role and develop new skills to progress in your career.
