CompEx courses CompEx is an internationally recognized course and qualification in explosive atmospheres providing competency-based assessment for personnel working in hazardous locations. Combining both theory and practical skills, our courses are hands-on and interactive. Our facilities provide attendees with all the practical equipment required for hands-on assessment of the principals involved in hazardous area applications.
COVID-19 health and safety measures The safety of our customers and staff is paramount and we have implemented measures to ensure delegates can train safely at our centre, adhering to the Government guidance and social distancing measures. We have implemented a detailed precautionary strategy, with one-way systems, cleaning schedules and social distancing measures in place, every delegate also receives a face mask to be worn at all times, gloves and hand sanitizer.
Our Ex01-04 Gas & Vapours course is designed to teach the general principles of explosion protection, the types of protection and marking and the various aspects of equipment design which affect protection concept. The course also teaches the practical skills required for the preparation and installation of relevant concepts of protection.
Our CompEx Ex05-06 course is designed to teach the skills required for working in explosive environments due to combustible dust. The teaches electrical installation, maintenance, and inspection to IEC 60079-14. It will explain the general principles of explosion protection, types of protection available and relevant markings.
Since the introduction of ATEX (DSEAR) users must identify all possible ignition sources that could arise in hazardous areas, including electrical and non-electrical (mechanical) items of equipment. This course teaches the safety measures for electrical and non-electrical equipment. The instructor will explain the applicable standards for the manufacture and installation of mechanical equipment and their protection concepts in hazardous areas.
The CompEx Ex12 course provides an in-depth awareness of explosive atmospheres formed by gases, vapours, mists and combustible dusts. It covers the application design and selection of electrical equipment, along with the requirements of IEC 60079-14: Electrical installations design, selection and erection, including the selection of equipment, cabling and cable glands etc.
Our CompEx Ex14 course is designed to teach Responsible Persons the skills and knowledge required to meet their legal obligations, including how to maintain and asset register and implement a practical approach to the inspection and maintenance of equipment in explosive atmospheres, utilising IEC 60079 Parts 14 &17. This course will also help you develop your understanding of managing equipment and people in explosive atmospheres, with our industry expert presenter sharing best practice and their lessons learned.
