Intertek and Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority Sign Memorandum of Understanding
Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions serving a wide range of industries around the world, and Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate in the field of food-related analysis, consultation, training and certification to improve and ensure food quality and safety for the citizens and visitors of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates and the Middle East.
Kurt-Peter Raezke, Intertek Food Services Director, Testing and Analytics explains, “One area where Intertek will support ADFCA is in the implementation and establishment of state-of-the-art analytical techniques to assess honey authenticity and detect adulteration. Intertek's food laboratory in Bremen, Germany, is an internationally recognized world-leading independent institute for the quality control of honey. It can provide unique expertise and analytical capabilities in this field, and was the first laboratory worldwide able to offer ISO 17025 accredited methods for adulterations of honey with sugar syrups from C3 plant origins (e.g. beet, rice, wheat). Both the honey industry and official food control authorities are using Intertek's expertise to ensure authenticity and quality of honey to protect consumers against fraud.”
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Rashed Mohamed Al Shariqi, Director General of ADFCA and Mike Jelfs, General Manager of Intertek EMEA, at ADFCA’s Cooperation and Partnership Forum, attended by ADFCA’s strategic partners.
