Qualified Hardware Installer Program

Minimize risk and gain a competitive advantage
Through Intertek’s Qualified Hardware Installer Program you can be certified to properly prepare Intertek certified fire doors bearing the Warnock Hersey Mark in the field for the installation of specific ASSA ABLOY locks and accessories while remaining compliant with NFPA 80.
The Qualified Hardware Installer Program is part of Intertek’s Qualified Personnel (IQP) Program and is designed to bring peace of mind to AHJ’s by independently qualifying personnel to ensure that their installations meet industry requirements.
AHJs and Facility Managers can rest easy knowing that the Installer they hired has completed the Proctored Exam necessary through ASSA ABLOY Academy to be successful in their field. All IQPs apply Intertek program specific labels, participate in regular audits, and stay current with training and recertification.
Those who successfully complete the prerequisites and the proctored exam, which includes routing a door for a mortise lock, become qualified and are able to install ASSA ABLOY approved locks in Intertek certified fire doors bearing the Warnock Hersey Mark on the jobsite.
The Process
- Take and pass the online course.
- Apply to Intertek for verification of qualifications.
- If qualified, sign contract. Fee is assessed.
- Once the fee is paid, schedule Proctored Exam.
- Upon receiving a passing result, certification is completed.*
*Note: Candidates can apply for a re-take of the Proctored Exam. Additional fees apply.
Recognition by AHJs
Qualified Installers apply a program specific serialized label to the door after the mortise lock has been installed. This label provides instant verification to AHJs and Fire Door Inspectors that the installation has been completed by an IQP and puts more trust behind the installation.
