    • Europe: Cosmetic Packaging Compliance
      In Europe, Cosmetic products are controlled by European Regulation 1223/2009/EC; however, there is no existing EU guideline for cosmetic packaging. The Packaging Advisory Document from Cosmetics Europe (2019) recommends the use of food contact packaging for cosmetics. In this context, Intertek will provide an overview of regulatory context for food contact materials, by explaining the regulation for plastic materials and other types of materials which can be used for cosmetic purpose. The goal of this presentation is to explain how FCM regulations work and what the requirements are to comply with those regulations.

    • North America: Cosmetic Packaging Compliance
      Packaging is an important and integral part of the cosmetic industry. Historically, the safe use of packaging and its impact on the cosmetic product is not clear. This is somewhat due to the lack of regulations that govern cosmetics packaging in North America. Although the intended use is different, the well-established food packaging regulations can be utilized to ensure the safe use of packaging in different cosmetics applications.

    • India: Cosmetic Packaging Compliance
      There are basic requirements for cosmetic packaging & labelling in India; however, there is no existing specific regulation or guideline for safety of cosmetic packaging. As some substances can migrate from the material to the cosmetic formula and induce a risk for consumers, Intertek will share an approach to assess cosmetic packaging based on regulatory information provided by the material and/or packaging supplier in accordance with the Packaging Advisory Document from Cosmetics Europe. In EU, cosmetic products are controlled by the European regulation 1223/2009/EC which requires an assessment of the interaction between the formulation and the packaging. Additionally, our experts will address how to assess the safety packaging based on analytical testing of materials during this presentation.

      There are basic requirements for cosmetic packaging in current cosmetic regulation system in China, however, there is no existing specific regulation or guideline for cosmetic packaging. In this context, most of countries recommend to refer to food contact regulation. Intertek will provide an overview of regulatory context for food contact materials, by explaining the regulation for plastic materials and other types of materials which can be used for cosmetic purpose. In this webinar, Intertek will share an approach to assess cosmetic packaging based on regulatory information provided by the material and/or packaging supplier in accordance with the Packaging Advisory Document from Cosmetics Europe. Intertek will also present the approach for safety assessment of a recycled packaging, based on analytical testing conducted on the material.
