EU – ECHA Adds 7 Substances to the SVHCs Candidate List
Vol. 749 | February 12, 2014
In December 2013, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) officially added 7 substances to the Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs) for authorization; expanding the current list to 151 substances.
Manufacturers and importers of articles that include the newly added SVHCs now have the responsibility to advise recipients if these or any of the other SVHCs are present in the article at a level that exceeds 0.1% by weight. In addition, if the an SVHC is present in the article above the 0.1 % threshold and this SVHC is imported into the EU, within articles or as a substance or mixture, in quantities of one tonne or more per annum, then they are required to notify ECHA within six months after the SVHC has been included in the Candidate List.
