Rhapsody Ready® Logo Program FAQ

Intertek has been chosen by Rhapsody International Inc. to execute the Rhapsody Ready® Logo Program. All program specifics, including processes, test design, and program design, have been approved and are enforced by Rhapsody International Inc.

Intertek in partnership with Rhapsody International Inc., is now offering three low-cost programs: one for Rhapsody Direct devices, and one that is designed for Standard Plays for Sure (PFS) portable devices and the Optimized PFS portable audio devices that supports Rhapsody International Inc's Rhapsody Jukebox software.

The Rhapsody Ready® logo provides assurance that the product meets compatibility, quality and usability standards for business level solutions set by Rhapsody International Inc. The test suite focuses mainly on the device’s interaction with the Rhapsody Jukebox software. All Rhapsody Ready® hardware that bears the logo will exhibit a level of reliability that will work with Rhapsody International Inc's Rhapsody Jukebox software.

The logo is an assurance that your product has passed a set of criteria as defined by Rhapsody International Inc. The logo is not a Full Product Quality Assurance guarantee. Intertek's test engineering service is to ensure that your product meets a set of compliance standards as defined by Rhapsody International Inc., and that your product's stability is adequate throughout the compliance tests.

A Program Test Kit is available for download (see links on the right side of this page), which provides the Rhapsody Ready® home/portable audio device manufacturers community with detailed information about the test process that will be executed when you submit your device to Intertek. A detailed description of all the tests to be performed is included in the Program Test Kit. To contribute to successful test results, we highly encourage device manufacturers to execute the tests prior to program submission.

Common Rhapsody Ready® Requirement Problems

Below are the most common requirements not met by devices based on our previous test results:

1. The device does not display Rhapsody’s server name completely, or the device does not support the UTF-8 character encoding.
2. The device freezes on any given screen for an extended period of time. If there’s a functionality that requires long processing time (e.g. searching/connecting to a network), make sure to display a visual feedback indicating that the device is still working.
3. The device does not show a user friendly message for all error handling processes. Make sure messages are more than just a debug message.
4. The device causes the Rhapsody software to crash. This will result in immediate failure of test.

Passing results in the compliance test report do not represent any type of Quality Assurance seal from Intertek. Intertek has no control over whether Rhapsody International Inc. will issue a Rhapsody Ready® Logo to your devices. Rhapsody International Inc. has reserved the right to refuse participation by any Device Manufacturer in the use of any trademark, licensing or compliance program regardless of the test results determined by Intertek.
