Intertek's Cargo & Analytical Assessment (CAA) business provides quality and quantity measurement, inspection, and laboratory testing services to the global oil, gas, petrochemical, petroleum refining & distribution, natural gas, biofuels, marine, and chemicals industries. They help their clients protect and manage their risk during custody transfer, storage, transportation and other activities related to their cargo assets. Their qualified personnel also provide technical expertise and additive treatment services, helping clients to protect and optimise the return on their cargo business activities.

They have one of the largest networks of analytical testing laboratories in the world. Using advanced analytical technologies, our experienced chemists, material scientists, technicians and lab managers provide clients with key purity and component testing, able to measure elements and compounds into the parts-per-trillion level. Our analytical assessment testing supports crucial quality control, troubleshooting, and research & development processes for clients on a global basis.

Job Responsibilities

An opportunity has arisen for an Analyst to join an expanding team providing independent testing and consultancy services to the fuels and lubricants sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking analysis of primarily greases and lubricants in the team’s test laboratories. 

Key responsibilities will include:

Undertaking and co-ordinating testing using established test methods;

Interpretation of test data and provision of meaningful conclusions based on test results;

Providing advice to customers on results of testing and other issues relating to product analysis;

Maintenance of existing test equipment and developing/commissioning of new test methods and equipment as required;

Ensuring compliance with relevant quality and accreditation procedures.

Additional information

Intertek Farnborough operates on a standard 37.5 hour week, but the role holder will need to be flexible in terms of hours and travel as some occasional travel will be required within the UK.

The successful candidate must be able to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC).

A degree of manual handling forms a significant part of this role, in respect of lifting samples and conducting tests.

Job Qualifications

Required skills and experience

Good IT literacy skills (including Microsoft Word and Excel)

Previous experience of working in a laboratory environment ideally within the fuels and lubricants sector

Demonstrable laboratory experience with experimental test methods

Full driving license
