Intertek's Cargo & Analytical Assessment (CAA) business provides quality and quantity measurement, inspection, and laboratory testing services to the global oil, gas, petrochemical, petroleum refining & distribution, natural gas, biofuels, marine, and chemicals industries. They help their clients protect and manage their risk during custody transfer, storage, transportation and other activities related to their cargo assets. Their qualified personnel also provide technical expertise and additive treatment services, helping clients to protect and optimise the return on their cargo business activities.

They have one of the largest networks of analytical testing laboratories in the world. Using advanced analytical technologies, our experienced chemists, material scientists, technicians and lab managers provide clients with key purity and component testing, able to measure elements and compounds into the parts-per-trillion level. Our analytical assessment testing supports crucial quality control, troubleshooting, and research & development processes for clients on a global basis.

Job Responsibilities

To analyse and release petroleum products. The position will involve (but is not limited to): 

Testing a variety of petroleum products to ASTM and IP test methods.

Preparing and testing sample blends as requested by customers

To prepare and test quality control samples, to standardise reagents and solutions and to calibrate equipment as needed for the testing process. 

Verifying samples to specifications and communicating results obtained.

Make appropriate entries in the required records and systems.

Generate reports for release to customers.

Receive and log in samples for testing on the required systems.

Maintain documentation as required to meet ISO 17025.

Additional Information 

The standard working pattern for this role will be Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm. 

Job Qualifications

Required skills and experience

Good IT literacy skills

Minimum 3 years in a lab environment, preferably in a petroleum lab

Experience and knowledge of petroleum products.

Familiarity with ASTM and IP test methodologies.

Instrument (GC, HPLC, AAS, ICP) or Engine experience a plus.
