Job Responsibilities

We are a busy commercial food chemistry lab and are looking for a Lab Supervisor to join our site management team. 

We are looking to recruit an experienced, dynamic, proactive and enthusiastic Supervisor, ideally with knowledge of food testing in compliance with ISO17025. You will work with a team of up to 12 people, overseeing and assuring the quality, speed, efficiency and accuracy of their work. Reporting to the Laboratory Manager you will be responsible for all aspects of sample preparation and test set up as well as maintaining a high standard of GLP and housekeeping.

Additional information

The role holder will be required to work 37.5 hours per week. Some additional overtime may be necessary during busy periods.

Job Qualifications

Required skills and experience

Good IT literacy skills

Previous experience of working in a food chemistry lab would be preferred but is not essential.

Experience of auditing and operating proficiency scheme schedules would also be viewed favourably.

If you are not already in a testing environment then experience of supervising complex processes to high quality standards in an FMCG environment is essential.

Leadership of a team to include training and performance management

Supervising a manufacturing/ test set up process and understanding the use of and need for various measurement tools/KPI’s to effectively do this

Experience of monitoring costs such as consumables, the cost of testing and overtime

Working to very high quality standards and tight deadlines.
