Impact Statement: A review of all Listing Reports is necessary to determine which products comply with new/revised requirements and which products will require re-evaluation. NOTE: Effective immediately, this revised standard will be exclusively used for evaluation of new products unless the Applicant requests in writing that current requirements be used along with their understanding that their listings will be withdrawn on Effective Date noted above, unless the product is found to comply with new/revised requirements.
Overview of Changes: This new edition of UL 515 is being issued to transition it to electrical resistance trace heating for commercial applications only. The requirements for electrical resistance trace heating for industrial applications are now contained in IEEE 515.
If product described is electrical resistance trace heater for commercial application then the change in the standard is not applicable.
If the product described is electrical resistance trace heater for industrial application then the change is applicable – electrical resistance trace heaters for industrial application is now covered by IEEE 515 and your product will need to be re-evaluated to this new standard.
