Impact Statement: A review of all Listing Reports is necessary to determine which products comply with new/revised requirements and which products will require re-evaluation. NOTE: Effective immediately, this revised standard will be exclusively used for evaluation of new products unless the Applicant requests in writing that current requirements be used along with their understanding that their listings will be withdrawn on Effective Date noted above, unless the product is found to comply with new/revised requirements.

Schedule: So that shipping of products with Listing Marks will not be interrupted, an approximate schedule has been established to ensure Listing Reports are found compliant by Effective Date:
Fees: An initial review of Listing Report (s) will be covered by a direct billing project and will be invoiced at not more than $1000 per report.
Client Action Required:
Information – To assist our Engineer with review of your Listing Reports, please submit technical information in response to the new/revised paragraphs noted in the attached or explain why these new/revised requirements do not apply to your product (s).
Current Listings Not Active? – Please immediately identify any current Listing Reports or products that are no longer active and should be removed from our records. We will do this at no charge as long as Intertek is notified in writing prior to the review of your reports.

For a glass fronted gas appliance where the temperature of the outside glass viewing area surface exceeds the limits specified in Clause 5.13.2, the following graphic danger and statement shall be shown.

Added color requirement: (4.27.1 c) The word DANGER shall be in white letters on a red background.
Modified the existing instruction manual statements with additional wording to define the populations that are the prime focus for protection.
“A barrier designed to reduce the risk of burns from the hot viewing glass is provided with this appliance and shall be installed for the protection of children and other at-risk individuals.”
Modified the existing appliance label (Figure 1) by changing the word “Warning” to “Danger”.
For a glass fronted gas appliance where the temperature of the outside glass viewing area surface exceeds the limits specified in Clause 5.13.2, the previous graphic (Figure 1) danger and statement shall be shown on a Class IIIA-2 Permanent Label.

Burn hazard potential (other than barriers made of glass)
A barrier, which is intended to prevent direct contact with the glass viewing area surface by the accessibility probe shown in Figure 4, Accessibility probe, shall be designed to prevent contact with the glass viewing area surface having temperatures in excess of 172 °F (78 °C) when testing according to Clause 5.14.1.

Add test requirements to evaluate the structural integrity of a protective barrier, not made of glass, and to evaluate the burn hazard potential resulting from the deformation of the barrier.

Newly added clause adding requirements for the construction of the decorative trim surrounding a protective barrier and provide a test method for measuring the burn hazard of these touchable surfaces.
