Impact Statement: A review of all Listing Reports is necessary to determine which products comply with new/revised requirements and which products will require re-evaluation. NOTE: Effective immediately, this revised standard will be exclusively used for evaluation of new products unless the Applicant requests in writing that current requirements be used along with their understanding that their listings will be withdrawn on Effective Date noted above, unless the product is found to comply with new/revised requirements.

5.5.2 Addition of test requirements for gas clothes dryers, which now includes a “black paint test method” to detect whether flames enter the drying chamber.

The requirements include testing at the increased inlet pressure per Table 3, Inlet test pressures, and at the maximum flow rate permitted by the control system. The test shall be conducted for all rated fuel types, be conducted using the outlet vent restriction that creates the longest flame, and be conducted in a room that can have all light blocked.
Annex B (new) Requirements added for Smart-Enabled Gas Clothes Dryers (based on UL 2158 requirements for smart-enabled electric clothes dryers).
