Exporting/Importing to Saudi Arabia - additional products to be registered within SABER.

Further to our previous announcements regarding the SALEEM Programme for Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) has advised Approved Certification Bodies that Saudi importers of products falling under the scope of the below Technical Regulations will have to process the necessary Certificates of Conformity through the SABER platform from 1st August 2019:

  • Electric Self-Balancing Boards (Scooter), TR No: M.A-155-16-03-04
  • Front, Rear, and Side Barriers for Trucks and Trailers, TR No: M.A-161-17-07-04
  • Degradable Plastic Products, TR No: M.A-156-16-03-03
  • Electric Batteries, TR No: M.A-166-18-04-02
  • Paints (Dyes) and Varnishes, TR No: M.A-155-16-03-03

SASO has advised all Approved Certification Bodies to stop issuing Certificates of Conformity (CoC)  from their own IT platforms from 1st August, 2019 and instead process the Certificates of Conformity through the SABER platform on receiving requests from Applicants for certifying products falling under the scope of the above listed Technical Regulations.

From 15th August 2019, shipments of products subject to these Technical Regulations will not be allowed to enter the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia unless they have the necessary Certificates issued through the SABER Platform.

Intertek can provide its expert services to clients to obtain the relevant SALEEM certification. Intertek is a SASO-approved Conformity Assessment Body for operating the new Programme for most of the Technical Regulations in the five regions.
