REACH Analytical Testing Services
Intertek offers analytical testing to help companies meet the requirements of the REACH (Registration, Evaluation, and Authorization of Chemicals) Regulation.
The REACH Regulation registration phase requires completion of a technical dossier. Each registrant is required to complete Section 1.4: Analytical Information and provide sufficient detail in order to demonstrate the identity of that substance. This information will also be utilized in the early stages of SIEF (Substance Information Exchange Forum) formation to enable substance ‘sameness’ checking for a registration dossier.
It will be necessary to apply a range of complementary techniques in order to fully establish the substance identity. The ECHA guidelines state that registrants should collect sufficient spectral data to confirm the structure of their substance and to use suitable chromatographic methods to verify composition and purity.
The ECHA Guidelines indicate that for mono-constituent or multi-constituent substances all impurities present at > 1% should be identified and listed in the dossier file. Impurities subject to more stringent regulations should be identified if occurring at levels above those specified in that legislation.
REACH Analytical Testing Services
Intertek helps its customers fulfill the technical dossier requirements of the EU REACH Regulation. Using our accredited analytical services laboratories and highly qualified analytical scientist global network, Intertek offers a complete REACH testing and characterization solution.
Intertek’s REACH testing program is a three stage process:
Stage 1: Sample Management
Stage 2: REACH Substance Identification Testing
The analytical methods to be applied will depend on the nature of the substances themselves. The level of detail required will also depend on the composition and type of impurities found.
