REACH Simplified
REACH [Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals] is one of the most comprehensive and far-reaching pieces of environmental legislation to come out of the European Union. Almost no products or materials are out of scope of this legislation.
When will REACH take affect?
REACH was entered into force on 1 June 2007 and will employ phased implementation. The first phase ended December 1st, 2008. The first phase set new MSDS requirements and offered Pre-Registration of all existing or "phase-in" chemicals with the ECHA, European Chemicals Agency.
Am I affected by REACH?
Your obligations for REACH compliance are dependant upon the composition and the quantity of chemicals in question. Chemicals classified as Substances Of Very High Concern have stringent requirements and higher obligations.
