Intertek provides globally the expertise to meet the hazardous declaration requirements of the Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) Regulation and the REACH Regulation. Intertek can support both the required hazardous declaration to the European Chemical Agency (ECHA) or updating of Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) and product labels.
The European Union’s Classification, Labelling and Packaging Regulation (EC)1272/2008 came into force on January 20, 2009. The CLP regulation is aligned with the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals criteria. The CLP regulation compliments, yet amends and repeals the classification and labelling section of REACH. Under the CLP Regulation, the deadline for substance reclassifications is November 30, 2010 and for mixtures the deadline is May 31, 2015.
Intertek solutions can support the classifying and labeling directives of the CLP Regulation due to our vast experience with restricted materials legislation in the US, Canada, Europe, and China.
Intertek classification and labelling services include:
• Classification of substances to meet the new requirements set out by the newly adopted Globally Harmonized System (GHS)
• Safety Data Sheet (SDS) updates to verify that all requirements are met and that classification of substances have been properly assigned
• Label formulation for compliance with GHS and correspond with safety data sheets
