California Public Utilities Commission Mandates Renewable Energy Integration Plans
Intertek has been working with utilities throughout North America, assisting them in renewable integration.
The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) road map for the Smart Grid deployment (SB 17, Padilla) mandates that utilities must supply CPUC with renewable integration deployment plants in 2011. Renewable energy is a linchpin of the Smart Grid. The costs of renewable integration are a major piece of their submittal to CPUC. Intertek has been leading the industry in determining renewable integration cost impacts on power plant dispatch. We are developing models and methodologies to not only determine these costs, but also helping our clients mitigate the increased cost liability on traditional fossil power plants due to their new generation mix. Our industry experts consult with our clients to provide better operating procedures to improve reliability at plants and reduce costs.
