Intertek has multiple injection moulding systems with various moulds to process on a small- or large-scale a variety of plastic test specimens which can be used for e.g. controlling the quality and specifications. These machines are also used for test runs for new materials and formulations at laboratory scale. Furthermore, these techniques can be used e.g. to identify material properties, classification of plastics, production possibilities and solving problems and providing consultancy in the field of plastics. Problems in the processing of materials can be identified using a variety of techniques.
Processing activities include an application to process lacquer plates. These plates can be used for research activities to test paints and coatings in relation to plastics. Small or large batches are tested against the latest standards demanded by industry.
Injection moulding applications:
Contamination is a critical aspect in processing test plates. Intertek has an application covering an integrated combination of injection moulding equipment, a robot system and a computer controlled cutting facility. The Arburg 720S 3200-1300 has a mould with 2 cavities able to mould lacquer plates with a dimensions of 120 x 120 x 3,2 mm.
The injection moulding equipment can also be used for screw and mould research. It is possible to use the customer moulds and screws of customers in our equipment.
