Intertek Whitehouse offers advanced capabilities in the field of mass spectrometry using instrumentation able to support both regulated and non-regulated activities including pharmaceutical, food, cosmetic and chemical applications.
These capabilities include advanced sample preparation combined with both LC-MS and GC-MS. High resolution accurate mass (HRAM) hyphenated with both GC and LC separation, enhanced-resolution triple quadrupole hyphenated with GC instrument and triple quadrupole LC systems for routine quantitation.
Trace organic service offerings include extractables and leachables (E&L), food contact notifications (FCN), analysis of polymer degradation products and additives, manufacturing investigations, counterfeit testing, impurity identification, trace level method validation and quantitation and consumer complaint testing. The group offers mass spectrometry method validation services compliant with FDA CVM 118 and offers services to supports regulatory submissions (ISO 10993, ISO 18562, USP <1663>, USP <1664>).
Advanced sample preparation techniques can be utilized prior to sample analysis in order to eliminate matrix interferences and concentrate trace level organic analytes. These techniques include solid phase micro-extraction (SPME), dynamic headspace (DHS), stir bar sorptive extraction (SBSE or Twister®), accelerated solvent extraction (ASE) and advanced solvent evaporator.

The Thermo Scientific Exactive GC (HRAM with 60,000 resolution and sub ppm mass accuracy, CI capability without vacuum venting) with SPME, static headspace (SHS) and multiple liquid injection capabilities supports component identification, elemental composition confirmation and MS quantitation.
The Thermo Scientific Q-Exactive MS (HRAM with 140,000 resolution and typically 1 ppm mass accuracy) with Vanquish UHPLC supports component identification, elemental composition confirmation and MS/MS quantitation
The Thermo Scientific Orbitrap LTQ XL with Accela HPLC ((HRAM with 100,000 resolution and typically 1 ppm mass accuracy, MSn scan functions) supports component identification, elemental composition confirmation and MS quantitation
The Thermo Scientific TSQ Quantum Ultra XLS, enhanced resolution triple quadruple GC-MS system with DHS, SPME, Twister, SHS, large volume injection capability, ITSP and olfactory port supports MS and MS/MS quantitation.
