TAPPI T406 Chemical Analysis
TAPPI T406 testing, for reducible sulfur in paper and paperboard.
The TAPPI T406 test procedure gives an indication of how much a given test material will tarnish polished metals. It does not provide the total sulfur content, or the total reducible sulfur content, but gives the reducible sulfur content under the mild reduction conditions of the test. The forms of sulfur believed to be reducible under the test conditions are sulfide, elemental sulfur, thiosulfate, other polythionates and polysulfides, some sulfites, but not sulfate.
