Specific migration testing for plastics and other food contact materials such as packaging, kitchen utensils and food processing systems.
Intertek provides specific migration testing for all types of food contact materials including packaging, kitchen ware and food processing equipment, according to EN 13130. Specific migration limits (SML) for monomers and additives are listed and the migration limits for these components are laid down by EFSA. Analysis of the specific components, including additives, monomers and residual substances, are performed according to the relevant rules listed in standard EN 13130. If for a SML-component no analytical method is available Intertek can develop a method.
