Acetaldehyde Testing in Plastics

Testing of plastic packaging and other materials on Acetaldehyde content.

Intertek provides analyses of acetaldehyde (AA) and formaldehyde (FA) in PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottles and other virgin or recycled PET materials. Intertek can also determine the migration of these substances through food packaging and food contact materials.

Acetaldhyde is measured in PET after extraction and will be identified by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).  A maximum level of 6 mg/l of acetaldehyde is followed by the mineral water industry. Intertek also provides analyses of these and other regulated and/or restricted substances in other materials or products.
