- Plant Equipment and Facility Design:
Complete projects from conceptual design through startup. A combination of strong technical knowledge and plant and field experience provides cost-effective designs for all types of equipment related to the oil and gas industry. - Design Reviews:
The purpose of the Design Review is to compare the materials of construction, fabrication requirements (e.g., post weld heat treatment [PWHT]), hardness controls, etc. of the facility to what is referred to as “generally accepted industry practice.” For most hydrocarbon plants, generally accepted materials of construction, corrosion allowances, fabrication requirements, hardness controls, etc. are intended to provide minimum service life. This systematic approach to the design and materials review is important to identify missed equipment items, inconsistent operating conditions, incorrect materials identification, source of contaminants, and overlooked damage mechanisms. This approach also leads into the development and implementation of critical operating windows, limits, and alarms. - Design Verification:
We provide a design verification methodology for pressure vessels and piping components to ensure increased operational safety and jurisdictional compliance through engineering review. This methodology ensures the accuracy of the “discard thickness” T (min) calculations (or minimum thickness) for pressure vessels and piping components by applying:- Code calculations (i.e., ASME Section VIII, Div. 1 and ASME B31.3)
- “Site specific” requirements (such as wind loading, Zick Analysis, structural minimums, etc.)
- Software Support:
Intertek conducts calculations using both COMPRESS© Pressure Vessel design software and Excel based calculators. We have completed the design verification of many different refinery units and associated equipment. The information calculated during these projects is used as input into Inspection Management programs, such as PCMS and Ultrapipe. CADWorx Design Review, supplied with each seat of CADWorx Plant Professional, provides real-time design review capabilities of CADWorx 3D models.
