Intertek helps the global food industry prepare for the Food Safety Modernisation Act (FSMA)

London, United Kingdom - Intertek, a leading quality solutions provider to industries worldwide, is hosting a series of Food for Thought webinars to help food manufacturers, importers and processors ensure they comply with new legislation - the Food Safety and Modernisation Act (FSMA).

Following recent reports that foodborne bacteria such as campylobacter and salmonella are on the increase in the US, the need for reforms in food safety have become increasingly important. As a consequence, the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) are on the brink of finalising a number of new rules for the Food Safety Modernisation Act (FSMA) designed to prevent food safety issues before they arise in a bid to protect US consumers.

With established expertise in food testing, auditing and certification, Intertek is hosting a series of food safety webinars, the first being on FSMA in order to advise food clients on how to navigate the regulatory requirements and ensure compliance. Food organisations are invited to attend the 30 minute session to understand what the seven new rules are and how they will affect their businesses. FSMA will affect all food companies within the US as well as those importing food products into the country.

Calin Moldovean, Intertek’s Senior Vice President for Food Services commented, "The FSMA webinar is the first in a series of Food for Thought presentations hosted by the experts at Intertek, who are committed to sharing knowledge in order to improve food safety and protect brands, businesses and ultimately the consumer.”
