Intertek celebrates 10 years of welding education excellence in China

Shanghai, China - Intertek, a leading quality solutions provider to industries worldwide, celebrated 10 years of welding education excellence in China at an industry seminar in Shanghai. The seminar titled “American Welding Society (AWS) in China – Past, Present & Future” was hosted by Intertek and the Shanghai Welding Association (SWA), and supported by AWS and Shanghai Tayor Group.
For the past 10 years, Intertek experts (formerly Intertek Moody) have worked with the SWA to train and certify welders in China. At the seminar, SWA General Secretary, Xu Feng, praised the 10 years of successful co-operation between the two companies, which has seen Intertek train and certify more than 5,000 welders using the Accredited Test Facility (ATF) program based at SWA’s premises. Intertek is the largest accredited testing company operating on behalf of the AWS for the ATF and Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) training and exam program.
Within the CWI program, Intertek has trained and certified over 4,000 inspectors. The CWI qualification is internationally recognized and individuals who complete the program and pass the exam achieve improved welding inspection skills as well as additional knowledge of the diverse fabrication, inspection and testing codes, standard and specifications.

The seminar brought together industry leaders and experts to discuss welding quality control and contribute to the future of international certification programs and codes. More than 180 welding experts, scholars, engineers and managers from over 90 companies were invited to the event.
