Whitehouse, NJ, USA – Intertek, the leading quality solutions provider to industries worldwide announced that Dr. Gyorgy Vas joined the company as a Research Fellow specializing in Trace Organics Analysis as part of Intertek’s Pharmaceutical, Healthcare and Regulatory Analytics team. In this role, Dr. Vas will develop state-of-the-art mass spectrometry based analytical methods for trace organics analysis including extractable and leachable testing.

His focus will be to develop state-of-the-art mass spectrometry based analytical methods for trace organics analysis including extractable and leachable testing. In addition to developing new analytical methods for trace organics, Dr. Vas also is responsible to complete trace level method development and validation projects supporting pharmaceutical products and medical devices and food contact products.

Most recently, Dr. Vas was at Johnson & Johnson and is a globally recognized expert in trace organics analyses and extractables/leachables studies. He received his M.Sc. in Analytical Chemistry from University of Debrecen (Hungary) and his Ph.D. in mass spectrometry from University of Eotvos (Hungary). Dr. Vas  has developed multiple trace level analytical methods for different medical devices and pharmaceutical products as well he developed and published a molecular imaging MALDI MS method for drug-eluting stents. He was one of the leading analytical chemist for a cross functional analytical team which was created to develop method for a product related odour complaint.

He has published 18 research papers and has received the Johnson & Johnson Outstanding Analytical Scientist Award and the Philip B. Hoffman Research Award for developing trace level analytical methods.
