Network equipment manufacturers meet Verizon NEBS requirements for the outside plant.

Arlington Heights, IL – Intertek, the leading quality solutions provider to industries worldwide, today announced it is a Verizon Approved Independent Testing Laboratory (ITL) for GR-3108-CORE, Issue 3. This expansion to Intertek’s scope of approved testing under Verizon’s ITL Network Equipment Building System Testing Certification Program (NEBS-TCP) addresses the recent flux of network equipment upgrades and retrofits deployed in the outside plant to support growing data usage in North America.

In May Verizon accepted GR-3108-CORE, Issue 3, part of the Generic Requirements for Network Equipment in the Outside Plant, and set a deadline of Dec. 1, at which time all new test programs must be based on the standard and be approved by a qualified testing laboratory. Intertek’s facility in Lexington, Ky., has full NEBS testing capabilities and is now approved to test network equipment intended for Class 1, Class 2, Class 3, and Class 4 outside plant operating environments.

As a full-service telecom test house accredited to ISO 17025, Intertek Lexington has the capabilities to evaluate products within a single location, delivering best-in-class project management from start to finish. Intertek leverages decades of NEBS testing and validation expertise to address mandatory compliance requirements for telecommunications equipment deployed in North American carrier networks, including Central Offices (CO), data centers, and Outside Plant applications within the Public Switched Telephone Network.
