Collaboration with Intertek yields learning and networking opportunities for LifeScience Alley’s membership base.

Arlington Heights, IL - Intertek, the leading quality solutions provider to industries worldwide, and LifeScience Alley, the largest state-based life sciences trade association in the United States, together support medical device manufacturers through world-class education and training.

In June 2013, Intertek and LifeScience Alley jointly delivered a technical seminar to deconstruct compliance guidelines for electrical safety, home healthcare, mobile health, and RoHS regulations. Attendees gained valuable insight into upcoming compliance deadlines and learned best practices for how to approach these head-on. This was the second seminar conducted by Intertek and LifeScience Alley, and collaboration is ongoing.

“As a leader in educating, connecting, and advocating for the regional life sciences industry, we are pleased to collaborate with Intertek,” says Mike Skoglund, Education and Research Manager, LifeScience Alley. “Today’s medical device companies demand mastery of compliance issues facing their products, and educational programs are vital to their success. We are confident in Intertek’s ability to successfully communicate their expertise, and look forward to offering additional programs from Intertek.”

The medical device market enforces compliance with some of the most complex product safety standards in the manufacturing industry. Encouraging manufacturers to consider compliance standards before reaching the design phase, Intertek has helped companies redefine their development process and get to market on schedule. Leveraging more than 50 years of experience in the medical device testing industry, Intertek’s leading technical experts are frequent guest speakers at tradeshows, conferences and regional events.

“As part of our long-standing mission to support and deliver professional education, Intertek hosts more than 50 technical events each year,” says Pam Streed, Vice President of Intertek’s Electrical Group. “The medical market has been a chief focus for us, as frequent regulatory updates demand that our clients re-evaluate their knowledge of compliance standards.”

Intertek’s relationship with LifeScience Alley brings new learning opportunities to the Midwest, a region where Intertek has seen steady growth and is serviced by its five Centers of Medical Excellence in the United States, located in Oakdale, MN; Boxborough, MA; Lake Forest, CA; Menlo Park, CA; and Duluth, GA.
