Intertek opens licensed CompEx centre in Scotland

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions to industries around the world, announces the opening of their new hazardous area competency validation centre in Grangemouth, Scotland.
Scotland has long been a strategic location for the oil and gas sector with many of the worlds leading energy brands, operating out of the region. The CompEx facility, which is currently Scotland's only centre offering CompEx units Ex12 'Application Design Engineers' and Ex11 Mechanical.

Complimenting their existing CompEx centre in Chester, the Grangemouth facility, will offer a full suite of CompEx courses including – Ex12 – Design and Project Engineers, Ex11 – Mechanical, Ex07 – Ex08 Fuel (plus Refreshers), Ex05 – Ex06 Dust, Ex01 – Ex04 Gas & Vapours (plus Refreshers) and ExF – the CompEx foundation assessment.
The CompEx scheme provides both classroom based and practical education and competency validation for engineers and staff working in potentially explosive environments. In these locations being aware of ignition hazardous and understanding the risks that these present to equipment, can prevent fire, explosion and the environmental devastation that these can cause.
Intertek is the only ATEX Notified Body licensed to be a CompEx centre in the UK, and the addition of the Grangemouth location makes theirs the largest CompEx validation facility in the UK. Their trainers and assessors are all practicing engineers and have worked for many years with leading companies in the energy, food and chemicals industries.
