Mississauga, ON – Intertek (LSE: ITRK), a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, today announced it signed a partnership agreement with the Local Content Assurance Bureau (LCAB) to provide auditing and inspection services under the Contributor to Ontario Renewable Energy (CORE) Program. The CORE Program assists manufacturers, suppliers, professional service firms and individuals with meeting the domestic content requirements of the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) for its Feed-in Tariff (FIT) program.

By becoming the leading service provider of the CORE Program – in partnership with LCAB – Intertek seeks to provide additional value to the renewable energy market, specifically to solar and wind manufacturers. The OPA’s Feed-in Tariff offers businesses with incentives for Ontario-based content. After achieving a CORE Certification, companies are well-positioned to demonstrate domestic content compliance to the Ontario market.
The CORE Program is the only Ontario domestic content program that is backed by a rigorous, on-site verification and review process. Intertek’s expertise with special inspections in the Canadian market for renewable energy products will help to elevate the CORE Program’s existing infrastructure, providing an even faster turnaround time for audits and inspections.

“Expansion of our renewable energy portfolio is important as we remain ahead of the industry. More specifically, the CORE Program will verify domestic content helping us provide additional value to our solar and wind energy clients in Ontario,” said Sunny Rai, Regional Vice President, Renewable Energy, Intertek. “Our local expertise will support the growing demand for domestic content verification services in Ontario and we expect to see these types of programs expanding into markets around the world.”

The CORE Program provides verification services for all 42 categories across all four of the current FIT Domestic Content Grids. Members of the CORE Program have satisfied the strict standards established by LCAB. The CORE Program standards are designed to meet or exceed the domestic content requirements established by the OPA under the FIT Program.

“LCAB is excited about the opportunity to partner with Intertek. The partnership enhances LCAB’s ability to deliver the CORE Program to our expanding client base in Ontario and abroad,” said Etienne Lecompte, Managing Director of LCAB. “LCAB’s clients have a variety of auditing needs, including safety and performance testing and domestic content verification. Through LCAB’s partnership with Intertek, Intertek becomes a solution for all of our clients’ auditing and certification needs, and we are pleased that our partnership with Intertek will help our clients meet these needs efficiently.”

Intertek continues to expand its renewable energy testing, inspection and certification services around the globe. Becoming the leading provider of domestic content auditing services through the CORE Program is a complimentary addition to Intertek’s existing services which include, providing manufacturers of solar and wind energy products the widely recognized ETL Listed mark for safety and performance, performing special inspection and field labeling of products in the field, and offering bankability assessments to help renewable energy manufacturers provide third party proof of performance.
