Intertek Expands Consumer Goods Services in Bangladesh with New Textile and Apparel Laboratory

Intertek,a leading provider of quality and safety solutions serving a wide range of industries, is pleased to announce the addition of enhanced laboratory testing services in Bangladesh, dedicated to serving the growing textile and apparel industry. In a grand event on 8 June 2011, Mr. Nasir Uddin Chowdhury, First Vice president, BGMEA Chittagong inaugurated the laboratory premises in Chittagong.

“Intertek Consumer Goods Bangladesh is pleased to open this new textile testing laboratory in Chittagong. The new lab will allow Intertek to provide expanded and enhanced service levels to our Consumer Goods clients in the country and globally,” said Mr. Calvin Yam, Regional President, Intertek Consumer Goods.

Mr. Dilip Gianchandani, Regional Director (India & Bangladesh) added, “This will be the first fully operational, International state-of the-art textile testing laboratory in Chittagong. This will help the exporters of this region to reduce the lead time in testing to a great extent and to get the test results faster”. “The new Intertek facility, with about 8,000 sq. ft. area, is located in Chittagong Division of Bangladesh, and will support enhanced testing activities in Dhaka and compliments current inspection & auditing services to support US, EU and other major global export destinations for textile and apparel products,” said Dr. Karthik ND, General Manager, Intertek Consumer Goods, Bangladesh. Heads of various garments industries, business leaders and representatives of major retailers from Dhaka and Chittagong were present in the event.
