Intertek Opens Textile, Apparel and Soft Home Furnishings Testing Laboratory in Korea

Lab is centrally located to supply manufacturers' need for chemical and softlines testing
Seoul, Korea – Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions serving a wide range of industries around the world, announces the opening of its first consumer goods testing laboratory for textiles, apparel and soft home furnishings in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, Korea. Intertek established the laboratory in direct response to growing demand from customers in the region, including textile manufacturers, suppliers and exporters, for efficient, cost-effective quality and safety testing to enable them to meet increasingly stringent international standards and regulations.
Intertek’s new 55,000-square-foot laboratory draws upon the experience and resources of the company’s vast network of more than 1,000 laboratories and offices in over 100 countries to bring the region unparalleled knowledge and expertise on all global regulations and trends related to textiles, apparel and soft home furnishings. Intertek’s Seongsu-dong location is in close proximity to manufacturing sites and customers’ buying offices, facilitating quick response to ever-changing textile and apparel regulations, as well as global industry standards.

The new laboratory provides innovative services, including fiber identification, feather and down testing, flammability, care label instruction, performance testing and eco-textile certification.
