Core Cutting for Geological Samples
A number of Intertek sites possess core cutting capabilities to facilitate the splitting, sample preparation, analysis and archiving of valuable geological samples.
Intertek offers a range of core cutting services which include cutting, secure storage and rental space for core logging. Diamond drilling is typically used in exploration and resource definition programs. Invaluable geologic, mineralogic and geotechnical data are obtained from the cores.
The drill core is often cut or split in varying ratios from quarter to full core, to provide a representative sample for analysis and reference. Specific gravity and/or bulk density analysis can be carried out along with an extensive range of further sample preparation and analytical options.
