Airport Lighting Testing

In partnership with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Intertek provides performance evaluations for all types of airport lighting products.
Intertek's Airport Lighting Certification program is recognized by the FAA.
Lighting products we test include:
- Beacons
- Obstructions
- In-pavement
- Taxiway
- Edge
- Approach system lights
In addition to FAA specifications, Intertek tests to ICAO, IEC, NATO, and military requirements. In North America, we’re the sole Administrator for the ETL Verification Program for Airport Lighting Equipment. We evaluate various types of traffic control equipment, including LEDs, incandescent traffic signals, and pedestrian signals according to requirements from organizations such as the DOT, Caltrans, Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), municipal, and proprietary specifications.
We also developed the Traffic Control Equipment Certification Program. This program was developed to encourage and promote the design and production of traffic control equipment that meets specified industry, state, local, and proprietary standards. Samples of traffic control equipment are selected from participating manufacturers and submitted to us for inspection and testing per specified standards. Those samples that meet the specified standard(s) are entitled to bear the ETL Verified Mark.
The Traffic Control Equipment Certification Program is open to all manufacturers of traffic control equipment.
