LED Lighting Facts®

Energy Efficiency Labeling and Packaging Standards for LEDs

LED Lighting Facts® represents a labeling standard supported by the Department of Energy (DOE) that provides information about your product’s brightness, energy cost, life expectancy, light appearance, wattage, and mercury content. It was designed to provide a uniform and user-friendly way for consumers to review product specifications and make comparisons between products, similar to the “Nutrition Facts” label on modern food packaging. The labeling standard is currently mandatory on all packaging for screw-based replacement lamps, including incandescent, halogen, CFL, and LED models.

As a LED Lighting Facts Approved Testing Laboratory Partner, Intertek offers complete testing to the following program standards:

  • IES LM-79 for total flux and color (required label metrics; LM-79 sections 9 and 12)
  • IES LM-79 for intensity distribution (optional metrics; LM-79 section 10)
  • IES LM-80
  • In-Situ Temperature Measurement Test (ISTMT)
