Electrical Safety Testing of Lighting Products

Intertek can test your lighting product to virtually any domestic or international safety standard or requirement in as little as 15 days.

Intertek’s experts can assist lighting manufacturers with domestic and international requirements., including UL 1598, UL 153, UL 1573, UL 2108, UL 1838, UL 1994, UL 924, UL 48, and corresponding CSA Specifications. Depending on your target market, Intertek can offer the following testing and certification marks for lighting products:

ETL Listed Mark - The ETL Listed Mark indicates that your product has been independently tested by an OSHA recognized Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL), found to be compliant with applicable safety standards, and meets the minimal requirements for sale or distribution within North America.

S Mark - The S Mark provides evidence to authorities and your customers that Intertek has independently tested and certified your product’s compliance to applicable European safety requirements.

GS Mark - Any electrical, mechanical, or electro-mechanical product bearing the GS Mark indicates that it was tested and complies with the minimum requirements of the German Device Safety Act. The GS Mark is a licensed mark of the German government and may only be issued by an accredited product safety testing and certification agency.

CE Mark – Before your products can be placed on the European market they must meet the requirements of the relevant product directives. Directives are joint rules that have been put in place to simplify trade to and between the member countries of the European Union. All directives dealing with safety require products to be CE marked before they can be marketed within the EU.

ENEC Marking - the European Norms Electrical Certification which is accepted in 22 European countries. The mark denotes compliance to applicable electrical safety and performance standards for luminaires and components, and demonstrates that the manufacturer's quality management system is in minimum compliance with EN 29002 (ISO 9002).

IRAM Mark - All electrical and electronic products exported into Argentina must meet mandatory IRAM or IEC safety requirements as well as mandatory energy efficiency requirements for some product types.

"e" Mark – Automotive lighting products that bear the "e" Mark have been tested and found to be in compliance with photometric and spectral color testing requirements as part of the Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) requirements.
